This is an edit to the review below. I finally received a wheel that was true.
I suppose it was worth the wait, it disappointing as it was a gift. We will probably buy a second.
I’ve had this bike for about 2 weeks now and it’s been great. You get so much with this bike for about $400. The bike is not so much for hard, heavy trails but is very good for any other terrain. You can’t complain when you get a great platform to start with. Head is doing great things with this bike, I can’t wait to see what they do with future models.
We love that you're loving this bike! Trek on!!
I'm a mature adult, and when my son's 30-something girlfriend said she was looking for a bike, I gave her a Giant I had a couple of years, just to be nice and save them some money...also so I could get a new bike. I'm a pretty thorough shopper, and for the money and my intended use of just riding various paved routes throughout my little town, the JRA-2 was a nice, lower-cost replacement for the Giant. Of course, I wish it was lighter, but it does have 3 more gears and superior brakes to its predecessor, so I've been quite pleased with it and have customized it by way of adding a white kickstand, white grips, and white pedals, plus a seat cushion. My last "tweak" will be to get smaller, more road-oriented tires, THEN this bike will be perfect! Now, if someone could just tell me what the initials stand for: "Just Ride, Already"?
What a pleasant surprise to buy an entry level bike that rides this well! The bike assembled easily out of the box - took me only 20 minutes, and gears switched perfectly off the bat - only had to adjust one stop.
It handles downhill so well - the disc brakes allow me to stop well before tough maneuvers. I know the HEAD name from skiing - well done for keeping the quality of this brand going into biking!
I was looking for an upgrade to my previous bike I bought from Wal-Mart. But I really didn't want to spend 4 figures on a bike. I found this one in my local bike shop and it checked all the boxes. The quality feels like a bargin at $599.
